Responsibilities and expectations

Main content start

Web authors throughout the SDSS community help create and maintain great user experiences on all affiliated websites. These guidelines clarify the SDSS expectations of all web authors who have website edit access.

Expectations

  • Create web content.
  • Maintain the accuracy and completeness of web content.
  • Understand university and school brand standards to align with the Stanford Identity Guide.
  • Understand accessibility requirements and apply best practices in accordance with university policy. Review the SDSS user guide for more accessibility resources.

Onboarding and offboarding

  1. Onboarding: Reach out to the web services team to add new web authors to the SDSS community.
    • New web authors should be added to the workgroup and Slack channel to ensure they have the necessary web training opportunities.
    • New web authors also need the appropriate permissions added to their profile on the website they are responsible for editing.
  2. Offboarding: Contact the web services team so they can remove editing permissions and update the workgroup and Slack channel.
  3. Support: The web services team will share training resources with the web author community. This includes bi-weekly office hours, Siteimprove training, and one-on-one support as neeeded. The web services team encourages all web authors to reach out if they have any issues or are unsure about a topic.
